About the Role
Ultimate responsibility for Safe, Quality Food at a manufacturing site. Actively engaged in improving food and laboratory safety, quality, and efficiencies in the QA laboratories and production. Maintains intimate knowledge of laboratory policies and test procedures. Fosters a high-performance work culture in all Quality Assurance labs by ensuring Good Laboratory Practices are maintained and Technicians are routinely trained and tested for accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and secure all aspects of food safety and quality from raw material receipt to production and shipment of food.
- Lead staff and plant operational teams to ensure compliance with HACCP, SOPs, SSOPs, and cGMPs.
- Develop, train, and sustain Good Laboratory Practices.
- Ensure product safety and quality testing is maintained and recorded at facilities.
- Oversee laboratory training of all Technicians to ensure accurate and consistent test results.
- Approve the facility QA budget and capital projects.
- Maintain intimate knowledge of laboratory and production processes; evaluate processes to remove waste and reduce cost.
- Identify process locations and attributes to predict quality, maintain consistency, and reduce finished product testing.
- Set finished product quality attributes with targets and ranges, considering process capability.
- Support specification changes and publish updated test procedures in a timely manner.
- Determine root causes of food safety and quality deficiencies and resolve them quickly.
- Ensure deficiency corrective actions are validated and maintained.
- Coach, develop, and train direct reports and their staff, as well as support plant operations training in food safety, quality, and customer requirements.
- Work closely with Technology, Marketing, Sales, and customers to ensure products perform as designed.
- Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and internal Company policies.
- Complete behavior-based safety observations and correct unsafe conditions promptly.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree required.
- Five to seven years of related experience and/or training.
- HACCP Certification.
- SQF Practitioner Certification.
