About the role
As a Quality Assurance Inspector (Weekend) at the Williams-Sonoma Distribution Center in Booneville, MS, you will serve as the final inspector for upholstered pieces and slip covers produced by the assigned upholstery line. Your primary focus will be on final inspection during the weekday shift, ensuring all products meet Sutter Street Manufacturing’s safety, service, quality, and cost objectives.
Responsibilities
- Practice safe work habits and adhere to company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
- Maintain professionalism, integrity, and a positive attitude while assisting colleagues across the department and facility.
- Prepare upholstered pieces for inspection by trimming excess strings and detailing covers.
- Perform inspections using documented Standard Operating Procedures to meet departmental and facility production goals.
- Ensure all products meet or exceed quality requirements, including consistent ½-inch seams, correct fabric, cushions, pillows, and labels as specified.
- Verify overall appearance, checking for straight seams, no dropped stitches, fabric defects, even cushion corners, proper welt alignment, and correct tailoring.
- Collaborate with associates to maximize productivity while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area throughout the shift.
- Scan tickets and load inspected pieces onto the conveyor belt for further processing if no repairs are needed.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of inspection experience in quality operations, preferably in upholstered furniture.
- Strong math and reading skills, with the ability to interpret production tickets and simple instructions from manuals.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting delivery requirements.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow documented procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time-management skills and a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment with associates and managers.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 10-hour periods and bend/twist at the waist and knees to inspect upholstered pieces.
- Strong visual acuity to detect fabric patterns and color variations.
- Ability to lift 20–60 pounds frequently as required.
