About the role

The Watkins Company is seeking a full-time, Quality Assurance Inspector to join their team in Winona, MN. Established in 1868, The Watkins Company is a pioneer in natural flavoring products, offering a variety of categories including extracts, spices, dry seasoning mixes, bitters, and baking decorations.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices in tracking and recording quality assurance check data on an accurate and timely basis, while documenting all aspects of inspections and maintaining electronic and paper files of quality assurance data in an orderly manner to facilitate easy retrieval.
  • Samples incoming raw and bulk materials per established protocol using appropriate safety precautions.
  • Inspects finishing components, finished goods, handwork, assembled goods and other materials as necessary for compliance with established specifications and quality levels; documents activities and results.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used for quality control testing.
  • Conducts analytical tests on raw materials, manufactured bulks, complaint investigation samples, and any other testing deemed necessary under the direction of the QA Manager or designee.
  • Writes, edits, reviews and updates procedures and forms.
  • Writes and distributes quarantine and rejection notices as warranted.
  • Executes the environmental monitoring program (swabbing, compressed air testing, water sampling) as required.

Requirements

  • Possess an Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 plus years’ experience working in a quality assurance field with lab experience.
  • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and techniques.

$15 - $17 per hour
