Quality Assurance Inspector

Responsibilities

• Process workflow by verifying quality requirements and specifications within delivery schedule (daily or as needed).
• Verify first part of production for conformance utilizing specifications, drawings, and customer workmanship standards.
• Perform First Article Inspections of initial production runs per requirements.
• Ensure quality standards are met throughout production runs.
• Check quality of material upon arrival to and departure from the shop.
• Verify specifications of products and materials upon arrival.
• Maintain Nonconformance records and reports.
• Complete Orion’s Quality System required reports and forms.
• Interface with customer representatives for evaluation of nonconforming product as needed.
• Coordinate with Orion staff and customer representatives to resolve quality issues.
• Coordinate planning operations as a result of nonconformances and opportunities for improvements.
• Perform verification of finish cell processes and product.
• Evaluate periodic solution analysis reports and issue solution maintenance orders for the finish cell.
• Instruct program participants on processing work within delivery requirements (daily or as needed).
• Role model proper work ethics, behaviors, hygiene, and dress.
• Support all members of the Manufacturing and Orion team to achieve agency, departmental, and personal goals.
• Participate in team and agency meetings.
• Facilitate departmental and agency projects.

Requirements

• Quality assurance experience or knowledge of manufacturing utilizing various machines and processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Organizational ability and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collectively.
• Customer service skills; able to relate well to internal and external customers.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent use of computer.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to reach, manipulate, handle, and hold material.
• Frequent use of vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and spatial relationship.
• Frequent use of hearing ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
• Frequent use of speaking ability to express or exchange ideas, communicate detailed information, or convey instructions.
• Lifting, carrying, and pulling of up to 15 pounds; maximum lift, carry, or pull of 50 pounds (objects heavier than 40 pounds require a team lift).
• Exposure to manufacturing shop floor, requiring use of safety glasses.
• Exposure to excess noise levels, occasionally necessitating the use of hearing protection.
