Quality Assurance Inspector

EMR is one of the world’s leading metal recycling companies with a history spanning decades. EMR recycles ten million tons of material annually, everything from beverage cans to aircraft carriers, working with a wide variety of metals including copper, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel into more than 200 different types of new sustainable raw materials. The Quality Assurance Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring safety, quality, and smooth operations. This role is active, engaging, and outdoors focused, involving work in various weather conditions and occasionally near heavy machinery, using modern communication tools and fostering positive interactions with diverse individuals daily.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspection of loads to ensure materials are free from debris such as concrete, dirt, trash, etc.
• Perform quality checks to prevent hazardous materials, such as lithium batteries, propane tanks or gasoline tanks from entering stream for processing.
• Determine deductions from loads if unwanted materials.
• Direct all site traffic for all trucks in and out of the facility.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and practices.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED-equivalent.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Prior experience in Quality Assurance preferred but not required.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• High level of attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Customer service experience.
• Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment, including evenings and weekends.
• Team player with excellent communication and customer service skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Field work environment; may work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Noise level can be loud and require ear protection.
• Required to sit, walk, and stand for periods of time.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, and standing; lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Working in confined spaces and ability to work in high/low temperatures.
• May be required to use a computer for extended periods of time.
• Communication via telephone, mobile phone, email, text, and in-person to exchange accurate information.
