About the role

The Boeing Company offers a Quality Assurance Inspector Apprenticeship through its IAM/Boeing Joint Apprenticeship Program in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. This comprehensive 4-year training program includes 8,000 hours of paid on-the-job training and essential classroom education.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to inspect all types of tooling and machined parts, verifying compliance with stringent specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring all components meet operational requirements.
  • Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Inspect tooling from initial fabrication to final assembly, and various parts from vendors, using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Conduct in-process inspections, audits, and check orders on production parts.
  • Perform leak checks and determine the source of leaks, evaluating repair requirements.
  • Initiate and document nonconforming materials or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.
  • Review manufacturing plans and other documentation for completeness and compliance, identifying discrepancies.
  • Inspect mockups of engineering design changes to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Conduct line checks to investigate rejectable conditions on other assemblies or airplanes.
  • Document discrepancies and report them to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Train and instruct lower-grade inspectors, providing guidance as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience applying math skills such as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Experience reading engineering blueprints and drawings.
  • Experience working with precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with composites.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

Pay

$44.53/hour, with potential to earn up to $57.60/hour in accordance with the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

Schedule

This position is for shift 1; however, it may require some training on other shifts.
