Quality Assurance Inspector - 2nd Shift
About the role
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team in South Deerfield, MA. As a member of our Quality Control department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet our high standards.
Responsibilities
- Plans and performs receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections using metrology equipment to ensure compliance with consumer, commercial, military, and aerospace standards.
- Identifies and reports product and process nonconformities, supports audits and sampling, manages calibration of inspection equipment, and ensures adherence to internal and customer quality standards through manual and electronic reporting systems.
- Conduct inspections to verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and established inspection procedures.
- Performs dimensional, visual, and functional inspections on finished products, subassemblies, and components of varying sizes and materials.
- Identify quality or production issues, determine root cause, recommend corrective actions, and communicate inspection failures or tolerance issues to stakeholders.
- Decide disposition of nonconforming materials, including use, rework, or scrap.
- Calibrate and maintain measuring, monitoring, and test equipment.
- Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality records; complete internal quality audits per ISO procedures.
- Support company quality and safety objectives by following policies, procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills including binary operations (+-/*) and decimal/fraction conversions.
- Able to read and record measurements with precision and accuracy; identify and utilize detailed part names, numbers, and critical characteristics.
- Able to learn/use a variety of measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, inside/outside micrometers, verniers, pin gauges, height gauges, radius gauges, protractors, and dial indicators, optical comparators and coordinate measuring machines.
- Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with manual or electronic reporting of results.
- Able to learn, comply, communicate and report compliance or deviation to processes and product quality standards.
- Able to complete work under minimal supervision.
- Able to work in various production areas including, but not limited to, receiving, warehouse, quality control, assembly/fabrication, rotational molding and injection molding.
- Able to communicate and interact effectively and cooperatively both verbally and in writing with vendors, contractors and employees at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ experience in quality or a related field or product line, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn and apply standard testing procedures and methods.
- Ability to read engineering drawings at a basic level, determine standards, and relate drawings of parts to the actual parts.
- Functional computer skills including accuracy of data entry and ability to use Microsoft Office suite and SAP.
- Able to operate industrial trucks, including forklifts and man lifts; must be able to maintain certification and be able to work at elevated heights.
