Quality Assurance for post-OCR (Freelance) in German

About the role

This role is a key part of our process for converting medical records from PDF image files into fully editable and translatable documents. Once a PDF has been processed through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and converted into a Microsoft Word document, the LQA specialist ensures the accuracy and quality of the resulting file by comparing it with the original PDF.

Responsibilities

• Review and correct transcription errors caused by OCR.
• Ensure the layout and formatting closely match the original PDF.
• Verify that key data is accurately captured.
• Follow specific client instructions meticulously.
• Make basic formatting adjustments as needed (e.g., fixing indentations, merging/splitting table cells).
• Ensure the document is clean and properly structured for import into memoQ to support correct segmentation.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in German.
• Strong command of English.
• Familiarity with CAT tools.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe.
• Strong attention to detail.

Nice to Have

• Professional background or experience as a translator.
• Experience working with MemoQ.
