Shift: 8 am - 4 pm

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and assure all products meet customer requirements in all phases of production, including Sales, Fabrication, Coating, and Testing, as specified in Coherent Sales Orders or customer drawings.
  • Provide daily written contact through test results, product documentation, labeling, and packaging for all products.
  • Communicate problems and quality trends accurately and timely to all departments.
  • Perform various testing procedures to ensure products meet customer and internal quality requirements.
  • Manage processing coating trays to stock or sales order, including:
    • Transferring parts and documentation between sales orders.
    • Tracking, inspecting, and shipping priority items.
    • Inspecting and shipping walk-through orders.
  • Perform testing procedures and utilize equipment such as:
    • Laser engraver.
    • Microscope inspection.
    • Measuring coated clear apertures with scale.
    • Shrink wrapper for blanks.
    • Vacuum/Heat sealer.
    • Transporting product between departments.
  • Make daily computer entries to track work/sales orders in QA loggers.
  • Perform ERP transactions for stop/start and entering rejects, and understand where to apply parts according to ERP.
  • Report daily discrepancies in the QA logger for review with QA Supervisor and/or Manager.
  • Report non-conforming product to MRB.
  • Rotate auditing/double-check duties at prescribed intervals for:
    • Correct labels.
    • Correct serial numbers.
    • Proper documentation per customer or Coherent requirements.
    Record results of audit.
  • Assist with weekly inventory count of packaging supplies and bi-weekly holder inventory count; send results to GSC for reordering and Accounting for inventory correction.
  • Ensure adequate supply of production boxes to meet shipping requirements.
  • Assist in reordering packaging supplies with GSC.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with a strong emphasis in math.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong math background.
  • Technical background helpful in understanding technical concepts and drawings.
  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected individual status per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Skills

  • High organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, paying close attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, involving direct daily interaction with other departments.
  • Ability to understand and remember a variety of customer labeling and documentation requirements.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry into programs.
  • ERP experience is a plus (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions

  • Cleanroom environment with inspection stations.
  • Constant mental and visual alertness required.
  • Daily exposure to solvents.
  • Exposure to high-intensity light while inspecting certain product lines.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Good eyesight for visual inspection; ability to detect very small defects is a must.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Lifting less than 25 lbs; more than that requires a two-person lift or proper lifting equipment.
  • Pushing/Pulling 5-50 lbs.
  • Sitting for 6-7 hours per 8-hour shift.
  • Careful movement of products, using both hands when transporting parts in trays, coating tools, or other packaging methods.

Quality and Environmental Responsibilities

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards relevant to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
