About the role
The Quality Assurance Director at Safe Flight is responsible for leading the Quality team to ensure high-quality products are consistently supplied to customers, mitigate risk, and improve manufacturing processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop departmental strategy and vision to align with company, corporate, and regulatory goals.
- Manage end-to-end audit process (External, Internal), including acting as a point of contact for certification bodies and auditors.
- Ensure Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, AS/ISO, FAA, and regulatory/legal requirements.
- Staff, manage, motivate, mentor, and evaluate Quality Department employees.
- Conduct and support process owners in identifying, assessing, and mitigating QMS risks through KPI review and management collaboration.
- Develop, manage, and oversee supplier quality assurance.
- Review and apply lean manufacturing methods to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage Corrective Action processes and procedures, including tracking and effective closure.
- Ensure accurate and prompt processing of purchasing/manufacturing work orders through the quality department.
- Represent the Quality Department in various business process activities, including management reviews and continuing improvement.
- Analyze data and make recommendations for equipment, process, and product improvements to management staff.
- Communicate directly with customers and suppliers regarding quality requirements, flow downs, first article/approvals, performance trends, corrective action reports, and quality surveys.
Required Skills/Abilities
- 10 years of quality leadership experience in electronics manufacturing, including printed circuit board assembly, surface mount assembly technology, and electro-mechanical assembly.
- Excellent strategic, interpersonal, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with the capability to determine, respond to, set, and balance priorities.
- Confidence and ability to design solution strategies for complex problems with customers.
- Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 Quality knowledge, lean 6-sigma concepts and processes (green/black belt preferred).
- Epicor experience preferred.
- Proven ability to develop, document, and execute detailed quality plans.
- Strong root cause analysis techniques and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role is responsible for the overall supervision of the Quality department to support the achievement of the Company’s financial, customer satisfaction, and employee fulfillment goals.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of ten years of experience in a manufacturing organization.
- Minimum of 5 years of Quality experience; a master’s in business administration (MBA) or equivalent is preferred.
- Quality experience in an electronic assembly/test environment is beneficial.

Pay
Salary Range: $125,000 to $170,000. (Salary will be commensurate with experience)
