About the role
The Quality and Infection Prevention Director oversees all quality and infection prevention programs, clinical education, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Implements quality activities and programs to enhance resident services.
- Utilizes ongoing evaluation to measure success and influence quality improvement.
- Collects and analyzes data.
- Develops reports and recommendations for process improvement to enhance resident care and services.
- Reviews and changes the facility's QAPI Improvement and management plan to meet existing standards, Board-approved quality plan, and sends to corporate office for final approval.
- Maintains the infection control function for the entire facility.
- Provides formal and informal Infection Prevention education to support the delivery of excellent care to residents and staff.
- Performs infection surveillance and collects data on residents with infections to ensure infections are monitored for organism, transmission, and antibiotic appropriateness.
- Identifies trends in outbreaks and reports to the state after discussion with the Medical Director and campus Executive Director.
- Coordinates and administers the immunization program for all new and existing employees, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including influenza and Hepatitis B.
- Performs and enforces TB testing according to regulation and annually screens employees for TB.
- Performs audits on a regular basis to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding infection prevention (e.g., handwashing, isolation, cultures, and antibiotic usage).
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all staff.
- Schedules mandatory in-services and assists Human Resources with new orientation and implementation.
- Rotates weekend and weekly on-call responsibilities and provides leadership to direct care staff.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an approved Registered Nurse education program.
- Current Certificate in CPR/BLS.
- CPR Instructor certification (obtainable after hired).
- Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
- Must have a ND RN License and be in good standing in all states where previously licensed.
- Current CPR (or approved equivalent) certification.
