Quality and Continuous Improvement Engineer Level II - Tube Shop Focus

About the role

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities

• Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production environments.
• Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals.
• Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
• Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100.
• Recommend and improve initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality.
• Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the Manufacturing team.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness.

Requirements

• B.S. in engineering or equivalent STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Quality assurance experience in production environment.
• Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation preferred.
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs.
• Working knowledge of Material Review Board activities.
• Working knowledge of First Article Inspection and AS9102.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of Tube bending practices and inspection methods.
• Understanding of Orbital Tube Welding.
• Understanding of manual duct welding.
• Understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) practices.
• Understanding of precision cleaning practices.
• Proficient in the fundamentals of GD&T.
• Working knowledge of quality performance measurement analysis capabilities.
• Understanding of root cause analysis.
• Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production environment.
• Quality Management System audit experience.
• Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification.
