Quality Analyst I

Responsibilities

• Assures accurate and timely information is provided to customers using standard operating procedures for Office of Quality.
• Support improvement methods to achieve successful outcomes.
• Use evidence-based structured improvement methods for all quality improvement projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding data collection methodology.
• Adheres to department audit methods to assure data integrity and that systems are working appropriately to meet customer needs.
• Maintains and advances knowledge of quality databases, both internal and external.
• Load and extract data from current quality databases.
• Ensure validity of data through independent reviews and queries and validate the structural integrity of manual and electronic data sets.
• Merge varying data sets into a common definitional structure while ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timely availability.
• Review current/proposed measure definitions, specifications, and collection methodologies of clinical and administrative data from different sources for accuracy.
• Support production of routine reports from databases and assists leaders and department/divisional staff in developing customized reports.
• Uses a variety of data sources effectively, acquires knowledge and skills to effectively produce data reports.
• Measures and reports performance on a variety of patients' safety, quality, and experience indicators.
• Supports design of proactive reports to meet future reporting needs.
• Participates in data collection and submission for the quality scorecard, reports, and dashboards.
• Uses project management tools to communicate effectively with groups and individuals.
• Extracts data from various systems and is able to problem solve data process/flow issues.
• Supports data-collection procedures.
• Research information from relevant resources including national organizations to demonstrate current practice and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Identify sources of valid and reliable information and metrics to monitor performance trends.
• Analyze information from disparate sources.
• Analyze comparative data, benchmarks, and evidence-based practices for possible adaptation into the organization.
• Supports ECU Health public reporting of data and value based purchasing financial analysis.
• Performs business plan and request for proposal quality analysis.
• Demonstrate knowledge in the use of analytical and statistical approaches, tools, and techniques including understanding how process goals are established, measured, and monitored.
• Select specific visualization tools that best depict the accurate representation of the data analysis.
• Support training/coaching as appropriate.
• Communicate improvement priorities and results using narrative and visual tools by creating graphs and charts that accurately reflect valid interpretation of findings.
• Support a safety culture and infrastructure by engaging stakeholders to understand all perspectives when addressing patient safety issues.
• Demonstrate knowledge of regulations and standards applicable to healthcare setting including locates updates to remain current on changes in standards and regulations.
• Guide practice and operations with applicable regulations or standards by assessing policies and practice and conducting audits to ensure compliance.
• Stays current with best practice standards, guidelines, accreditation and regulatory standards

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in applicable field or higher is required.
• 1 year or more experience in healthcare field.
• Certification in specialty preferred within 3 years & maintained thereafter.
