Qualified Mental Health Professional

About the Role

The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)/Clinician will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing mental health therapy, counseling, case management, and integrated dual diagnosis treatment. The role involves addressing all treatment needs, including crisis management, substance abuse treatment, medication management, physical health treatment, mental health treatment, accessing benefits and entitlements, and other supportive services.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and productive work environment for clients and staff.
• Provide direct service to individuals, including conducting assessment interviews, providing on-going therapy, participating in supervision and training, and offering crisis intervention services.
• Collect and document client history through interviews, records review, and consultation.
• Conduct and document Mental Health Assessments, including mental status exams, DSM diagnoses, and supporting assessment tools.
• Develop treatment plans with clients and coordinate services with their support networks.
• Provide therapy services (individual, family, group) to clients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.
• Offer case management and community support services.
• Evaluate clients for risk of harm and respond appropriately.
• Monitor and ensure clients' health and safety needs are met.
• Participate in outreach activities and professional development opportunities.
• Prepare and maintain service documentation, client records, and billing reports.
• Attend required meetings, committees, and training sessions.
• Participate in regular supervision and quality assurance activities.
• Adhere to state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

• Knowledge of de-escalation methods or ability to train in de-escalation techniques.
• Full-time use of a properly licensed and insured automobile with a valid Illinois driver’s license is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy with 1,000+ hours of clinical experience.
• IM+CANS Certified.
• Demonstrated understanding of identifying precipitating events, gathering client histories, assessing relationships, and conducting mental status assessments.
• Ability to document DSM diagnoses and write/implement treatment plans.
• Must pass a background check, including clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, pulling, and lifting heavy objects, as well as climbing stairs several times a day.
