Primary Responsibilities
- Provide medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
- Administer and document oral, eye, topical, suppository, ear drops and other medications as ordered by the physician.
- Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
- Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy.
- Check catheters frequently and provide catheter care as assigned by the nurse.
- Document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy.
- Ensure confidentiality of all residents and their care to protect residents' rights and privacy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee.
Qualifications
- Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
- Must have completed a state-approved training program in medication administration and hold a current QMA certification by the State Department of Health.
- Must have a thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within the State of employment.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
