Qualified Boilermaker

SA Steelworks has a position available at our branch in Airport Industria, Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide support to the Boilershop Department and report to the Boilershop Team Leader.

Requirements

• Qualified boilermaker with minimum 5–8 years working experience
• Own transport and a valid unendorsed driver’s license
• Able to work overtime, public holidays, and weekends when required
• Available for callouts as needed
• Available for December and Easter shutdowns
• Previous experience in a steel environment (Meltshop) is an advantage
• Extensive knowledge of structural steel, ability to read drawings, and build equipment with minimum supervision
• Able to work well within a team and independently when required
• Able to work under challenging conditions
• Basic knowledge of Health & Safety rules
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of various hand and workshop tools is an advantage
• No fear of heights or confined spaces
• Experience with Automated Maintenance systems
• Good fitness levels and mobility

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, fabrication, assembly, and/or erection of work
• Day-to-day maintenance of machinery in and around the plant
• Attending to breakdowns of machinery in and around the plant
• Perform daily inspection of the plant (RCM: Reliable Centralized Maintenance system)
• General housekeeping in and around the boilermaker workshop
