About the role
The Qualcomm CAD Component Specialist, Senior position is a key member of the CAD department library team. Responsibilities include creating and updating component CAD schematic symbols and footprint geometry, collaborating with various cross-functional stakeholders, and applying DFM/DFA concepts.
Responsibilities
- Library Development: Analyze component specifications to develop CAD libraries that meet strict customer and technical requirements.
- Create accurate CAD library symbols and parts based on datasheets and engineering specifications.
- Stay updated on new and emerging technologies, specifically focusing on smaller packages, higher pin counts, and finer pitch components.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) concepts to create robust CAD library parts.
- Work cross-functionally with hardware and system teams to troubleshoot issues and provide timely solutions.
- Identify opportunities to optimize existing CAD processes and workflows.
Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience & Technical Skills: 4+ years of experience in CAD library management and/or PWB (Printed Wiring Board) design. Strong working knowledge of EDA tools, preferably Siemens/Mentor Xpedition and/or Cadence Allegro. Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools. Familiarity with Agile methodologies or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools. Basic understanding of interpreting datasheets and engineering drawings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration.
