About the Role
Texas Care is looking for a Qualified Mental Health Professional – Community Services (QMHP-CS) to assist adults and children who battle with depression, anxiety, anger, emotional, and behavioral issues. The primary focus with adults is to help them learn functional and independent living skills, find community resources, and provide support and/or linkage to those resources. For children, the focus is on training to increase appropriate communication skills, problem-solving, anger management, social skills, and interpersonal interaction.
The majority of the QMHP’s time will be spent providing services to adults and youth in the family home and other community settings. We seek someone with an unmatched passion for people, solid leadership/mentoring skills, and a solution-oriented mindset.
The QMHP will generally perform the job in office, community, and home environments, with most services provided in the client’s community and home.
Qualifications
QMHP-CS must meet one of the following:
- Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major (as determined by the LMHA or MCO) in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention;
- Be a registered nurse; or
- Have at least 2 years of experience providing therapeutic services for children/adolescents with behavioral challenges on an intensive level.
Responsibilities
- Provide skill-building training in the home or community through one-on-one sessions, focusing on goals and objectives using evidence-based practices and curriculum.
- Offer support and crisis/emergency services for the child/adult/family through face-to-face contact, phone contact, or an on-call system. Document all crisis-related activities.
- Maintain client documentation in the electronic record, adhering to requirements set by the Texas Administrative Code, and write progress notes.
- Utilize effective listening skills to establish rapport with clients, family members, and others close to the client; provide emotional support and engage family members in the service process.
- Maintain records in accordance with regulatory/agency standards, ensuring data is clear, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner. Assist in record or qualitative review processes as needed.
- Keep the family and team members informed on progress toward achieving Service Plan goals.
- Assist clients with daily living tasks such as behavior management, counseling, budget management, independent transportation, time management, and other tasks to promote independent living.
- Collaborate with courts/probation, tribal/community agencies, families, and other natural support systems to ensure client needs are met. Develop strong working relationships with community partners.
- Help clients practice effective communication, problem-solving, and anger management techniques in their daily lives.
- Participate in staff meetings, monthly training, company programs, and professional development as required.
Requirements: Must have own vehicle, cell phone, and access to a computer/laptop at home.
Pay
Salary: $20.00 to $24.50 per hour
