About the role
Metrocare Services is the largest provider of mental health services in North Texas, serving over 55,000 adults and children annually. The Crisis Interventionist Specialist-QMHP plays a vital role on a crisis intervention team, providing 24/7 services via hotline, mobile crisis outreach, and telehealth to individuals experiencing mental health crises, regardless of ability to pay or housing status.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention services in telephonic, telehealth, and face-to-face modalities.
- Ensure follow-up within 1 hour of an emergent crisis.
- Assist inpatient facilities (emergency departments, behavioral health hospitals, state hospitals, residential treatment facilities, and criminal justice systems) in continuity of care arrangements.
- Screen/assess crises, provide evidence-based interventions, and stabilize callers, linking them with service coordination for further stabilization if needed.
- Notify 911 and remain on-line with callers if there is an imminent risk of harm to self or others.
- Develop person-centered crisis plans and assist individuals in executing them during and post-crisis.
- Ensure continuity of care post-crisis to appropriate outpatient services (mental health, substance abuse, primary care).
- Be accessible for referrals and communication through electronic health applications, phone, and email.
- Interact with team members to resolve barriers to consumer services.
- Report all clinical crisis staffing to supervisor or designee.
- Facilitate communication between providers within outlined timeframes.
- Develop close working relationships with internal and external referral resources.
- Maintain confidentiality of individuals and family members.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled team meetings.
- Assist clients in linking with resources and natural supports.
- Help individuals adjust to new environments.
- Complete paperwork and maintain up-to-date clinical records, documenting services within 24 business hours.
- Work with family members/support systems to foster success.
- Remain compliant with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university with a minimum of 30 credit hours in a social, behavioral, or human services field (e.g., psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, special education, gerontology, educational psychology).
- 1-3 years of mental health-related experience OR a Master's degree in a listed field with 0 years of experience.
- Current State of Texas Driver License (or ability to obtain within three months of employment if licensed in another state).
- Reliable transportation and proof of minimal auto liability coverage if required for the role.
- Must meet criteria for insurability by Metrocare’s risk management facilitator.
- Acceptable driving record if operating a vehicle for work purposes.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with EMR systems a plus.
