About the role
This organization delivers high-quality construction materials alongside comprehensive design, engineering, and construction services through a group of affiliated companies. Their expertise spans a wide range of infrastructure projects, including bridge construction, shoreline stabilization, structural rehabilitation, and site engineering for energy developments such as solar installations.
Quality Management & Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance a company-wide Quality Management System (QMS) covering all phases of project delivery.
- Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and regulations, including NEC, NESC, IEEE, UL, ASTM, local utility requirements, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) standards, and contractual obligations.
- Establish and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to support construction, pre-commissioning, and project turnover activities.
- Conduct and oversee inspections across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems, including foundations, mounting systems, modules, DC collection systems, inverters, transformers, and medium-voltage systems.
- Identify, document, and track nonconformances; ensure timely resolution and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform system walkdowns and confirm mechanical completion prior to commissioning and energization.
- Lead the development, tracking, and closeout of punch lists to achieve substantial and final completion milestones.
Construction & Field Quality Oversight
- Perform routine field inspections and audits to ensure consistent quality standards are maintained.
- Review installation practices to confirm alignment with approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with construction leadership to identify risks and prevent rework.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality matters in meetings with clients, engineers, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Commissioning & Testing (Supporting Role)
- Assist commissioning efforts with emphasis on quality verification, system readiness, and documentation completeness.
- Develop and review commissioning plans, energization procedures, and testing protocols for compliance.
- Support testing activities across DC and AC systems, including SCADA validation, protection and control systems, and turnover readiness.
- Coordinate with third-party testing providers for substation commissioning, energization, and metering verification.
- Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting issues related to:
- High-voltage DC systems (up to 2,000 VDC)
- AC systems (480V–34.5kV)
- Inverters, transformers, and medium-voltage infrastructure
- Protection and control systems, SCADA/DAS, PLCs, relays, and building management systems
Documentation & Project Closeout
- Manage all quality and commissioning documentation, including inspection logs, test reports, as-built drawings, and operations and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure documentation supports substantial completion, final completion, and owner acceptance milestones.
- Maintain well-organized and traceable project records throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
- Provide guidance and oversight to quality personnel and field inspectors.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, commissioning teams, safety personnel, project management, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and external partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality matters in meetings with clients, engineers, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Promote alignment between quality and commissioning teams to ensure efficient project turnover and energization.
Safety & Professional Standards
- Enforce all site safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct and accountability.
- Collaborate with safety personnel to ensure safe execution of all activities.
- Perform only those tasks for which the individual is properly trained and qualified, including switching and clearance activities when required.
