QC Chemist
About the role
Cray Valley, a TotalEnergies affiliate, is a global supplier of specialty chemical additives, hydrocarbon specialty chemicals, and liquid or solid tackifying resins used in adhesives, rubbers, polymers, coatings, and other materials. As a pioneer in advanced technologies, Cray Valley has developed hundreds of performance-enhancing products for demanding applications across various sectors.
The QC Chemist maintains the Quality Control Laboratory at the Grand Junction Plant, ensuring products meet customer quality requirements through comprehensive quality control activities for three operating units and tolled materials. Responsibilities include raw material, in-process, and final product testing, review and validation of approximately 200 analytical procedures and methods, and regular monitoring, trending, and reporting of QC data to support product quality and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily control sampling to ensure instrument accuracy.
- Conduct typical preventative maintenance on analytical instruments.
- Test incoming, in-process, and final products against specifications.
- Troubleshoot instruments and methods.
- Provide laboratory testing support for process trials, NCR/CCAR investigations, and special projects.
- Order laboratory supplies and maintain inventory.
- Schedule and coordinate vendor instrument services.
- Develop, maintain, and document analytical methods.
- Monitor trends in production QC data and proactively notify management of abnormalities or changes against historical norms.
- Maintain laboratory schedule to ensure QC chemist coverage.
- Ensure data is available to avoid delays in shipping paperwork.
- Work with hazardous products and laboratory chemicals (flammable, corrosive, reactive).
- Collaborate closely with Production and the TCV Tolling department.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or college coursework in science with laboratory experience.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Laboratory experience preferred.
