QC Chemist
This role is a Contract to Hire position based in Covington, OH.
About the role
The QC Chemist performs laboratory testing on raw materials, finished products, process equipment, and environmental samples in a cGMP-regulated environment. This role ensures product quality and compliance with regulatory standards by executing analytical tests, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting continuous improvement within the quality control laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze samples including raw materials, finished products, process equipment, and environmental samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Test raw materials and finished products to meet cGMP requirements and regulatory standards.
- Participate in laboratory investigations to identify root causes of nonconformances and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Operate laboratory equipment safely and efficiently, following all operating procedures and calibration requirements.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant laboratory documentation for all testing activities.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits by preparing data, documentation, and responses as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe personal laboratory work area and assist with general laboratory cleaning tasks.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in all testing and documentation activities.
- Participate in training programs to stay current with procedures, methods, and regulatory expectations.
- Collaborate with colleagues in chemistry and microbiology groups to support overall quality and production goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline.
- Experience working in any environment outside of academic settings (such as retail, food service, or other employment).
- Ability to perform testing in a cGMP environment and follow written procedures accurately.
- Understanding of basic scientific principles and laboratory practices.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment and follow safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate testing and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured, regulated environment.
- Solid communication skills to document results and interact with auditors and team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Food Science is preferred.
- 0–2 years of experience in a GMP or FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with scientific testing of raw materials and finished products.
- Familiarity with cGMP requirements and quality systems in manufacturing.
- Interest in working in a science, chemistry, or food science laboratory setting.
- Ability to grow into different shifts or roles within chemistry or microbiology groups over time.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
