About the role

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure raw product meets specification prior to being processed for its assigned use.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document HACCP and SSOPs.
  • Monitor and document GMPs.
  • Calibrate scales daily.
  • Conduct appropriate quality checks and rechecks as specified by the type of raw product.
  • Perform metal detector checks to identify foreign material.
  • Perform verification on finished product, packaging and labeling.
  • Calculate ratios and defects percentages.
  • Communicate with supervisors upon discovery of out-of-specification products, and follow established procedure for handling out-of-specification products.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production demands.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Must pass a math test.

Training

  • All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing duties.
  • Training on basic principles of HACCP, SSOP, and GMP.
  • Supervisor-led workplace orientation, including introduction to employees, work assignments, and ingress/egress procedures.
  • A training buddy may be assigned to assist new employees.
  • Probationary period to evaluate employee effectiveness and performance.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear, and climb or stoop.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
