Entry-level role designed as a two-year development path; technicians are expected to gain proficiency on both processing and packaging sides of the operation.
Responsibilities
- Operate analytical instruments: NIR, Aw meter, CompuTrac moisture analyzer, calipers, LECO, laboratory weigh scales, vacuum chamber for seal checks, thermometers, and other equipment as added.
- Perform all routine in-process sampling and testing for either the processing or packaging side with some assistance from QA leads.
- Place materials and product on Hold in X3 and physical Hold; complete Log and Hold reports.
- Enter test data into IQS software and use Alphia business systems relevant to the position.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation by following GMP requirements, monitoring HACCP compliance, and performing verification checks of metal detectors and magnets.
- Assist with product changeover cleaning, sanitation, and pre-startup inspections.
- Pull finished product samples for microbial and regulatory release testing as specified in product specifications.
- Communicate test results to operators and shift supervisors; relay quality concerns and status to the following shift.
- Follow established procedures to ensure production of safe, quality food that meets all governmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as directed or assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to receive and provide instructions positively.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
