Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Quality Assurance team by assigning daily priorities, mentoring inspectors on FAA regulations, company procedures and best practices, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and mentoring QA personnel.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with FAA Part 145, Part 43, and applicable Part 91 and Part 135 regulations, Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), FAA-approved procedures, Company policies, and OEM maintenance manuals/approved technical data.
- Oversee inspection activities, including required Inspections (RI), buy-back inspections, hidden damage inspections, conformity inspections, return-to-service documentation, Airworthiness determinations, work package review, and sign-off support.
- Ensure inspection resources are aligned with production schedules to minimize aircraft downtime while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Drive quality performance by leading internal audits, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) initiatives, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement efforts that improve first-pass quality, reduce rework, repeat discrepancies, and inspection findings.
- Maintain regulatory documentation and audit readiness by ensuring accuracy, completeness and retention of maintenance records, FAA forms, Inspection documentation, Aircraft logbook entries, Airworthiness documentation, and digital maintenance tracking systems.
- Serve as the primary quality liaison during FAA inspection, customer audits, and OEM interactions while promoting Safety Management System (SMS) principles, just culture reporting, supporting corrective actions, and reinforcing human factors awareness.
Requirements
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 4 years of Quality Assurance or Inspection
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a Part 145 Repair Station or aviation maintenance environment
- Thorough understanding of FAA regulations
- Strong technical knowledge of turbine aircraft
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and engineering documents
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance tracking and MRO systems; experience with CAMP, Corridor, or ERP/MRO software preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred
- Experience supporting Challenger, Citation, Gulfstream or Bombardier experience
- Training or certification in SMS, Root Cause Analysis, Lean or Continuous Improvement experience
