QA/QC Unitized Manager

Essential Functions

• Streamline fabrication drawing throughput. Interface with Engineering and Shop to improve quality of releases and programming.
• Hold Engineering and manufacturing project meetings to improve execution through front end collaboration.
• Communicate and Implement Quality assurance best practices for manufacturing operations fabrication, assembly and glazing processes.
• Work with Shop Manager/Supervisor to develop, maintain and communicate safety, quality and productivity.
• Work with Engineering and Design staff to coordinate system design with fabrication requirements.
• Assist with the development of project specific QA/QC plans. Update standard QA/QC procedures as needed. Ensures proper organization and storage of Quality Assurance paperwork.
• Review fabrication of critical components in production facilities and take an active role in continuous improvement.
• Chair weekly unitized production meeting with PMs, AMs, and Detailing to ensure understanding of the unitized projects running through the shop.
• Have a firm understanding of the status of all materials required for shop fabrication of unitized work. Work with PMs and Shop personnel to make sure materials are present and accounted for.
• Working with the PMs and Shop personnel to help sequence and prioritize unitized workflow through the shop to effectively feed ALL projects in a timely manner. Evaluate production efficiency & capacity based on project complexity.
• Assist in the fabrication of all mock-ups (in house, laboratory, and on site) to ensure adherence to shop drawings and overall quality and how to improve systems/products.
• Oversee performance testing and troubleshoot as needed.
• Work with QC Field Manager, Superintendents and Foreman to understand fabrication issues that make it to the field. Work with shop personnel to correct such deficiencies.
• Serve as a resource for the shop, PMs, FMs, and QC FM should quality control, water tightness, constructability issues, etc. present themselves.

Work Environment

The performance of this position requires the individual to work in a shop environment as well as in an office environment. Since the individual will be spending a good deal of time in a manufacturing environment they should be cognizant of Safety Rules and Regulations accordingly. This position requires the use of office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Physical Demands

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. The position will require walking around manufacturing facilities. Additional physical demands may be required (Climbing on trucks, climbing around equipment, lifting materials. Equipment usage, etc.)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and regular hours of work and days are Monday through Friday as dictated by the shop crews work schedule. Hours may be flexible dependent on the needs of the company.

Travel

Occasional travel may be expected with this position.

Required Education and Experience

Degree in Construction Management or equivalent; or 3-5 years’ related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Prior experience with a firm focused on the assembly of metal facades or glass and glazing systems.
