About the Role

The QA/QC Manager supports operations by implementing and maintaining quality assurance and quality control programs across heavy civil and industrial construction projects. This role conducts site and facility inspections to ensure work meets project specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations. The QA/QC Manager leads orientations, progress meetings, and training sessions related to quality, and performs audits to identify issues, recommend solutions, and document findings. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of industry-specific standards and the ability to build effective working relationships with project teams, customers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support existing QA/QC programs across construction and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct regular jobsite and facility visits to perform inspections and assessments of work quality.
  • Verify that all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, and quality expectations.
  • Plan, lead, and support QA/QC orientations for project personnel and stakeholders.
  • Organize and participate in QA/QC progress update meetings to communicate quality status and issues.
  • Deliver or support QA/QC training sessions to promote consistent quality practices across project teams.
  • Perform formal quality audits on projects to identify areas of concern or nonconformance.
  • Independently determine and implement appropriate corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Document all inspections, audits, findings, and corrective actions in a clear and organized manner.
  • Interpret and apply relevant industry-specific quality standards and codes to project work.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and other team members to resolve quality issues.
  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, and regulatory authorities to address quality requirements and concerns.
  • Support continuous improvement of QA/QC processes and procedures across projects.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools to prepare reports, track quality metrics, and communicate findings.
  • Travel extensively to various project sites to ensure consistent quality oversight and support.

Essential Skills

  • Proven QA/QC experience in construction environments.
  • Heavy civil construction background, with heavy civil or industrial experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of heavy civil and/or industrial experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, approximately 75% or more of the time.
  • QA/QC certification in ISO standards or from the American Society for Quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and related applications.
  • Valid driver license appropriate for vehicles used for site visits.
  • Acceptable driving record as determined by internal review standards.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, quality control, and quality engineering principles.
  • Experience with civil site and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industry-specific standards and project specifications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams and external stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in utility construction and civil site work.
  • Background in quality engineering within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to lead meetings, orientations, and training sessions related to QA/QC.
  • Experience conducting audits and implementing corrective actions in a construction setting.
  • Strong organizational skills for documenting inspections, audits, and quality records.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced project environment with frequent travel and changing priorities.

Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite at a data center construction project and other heavy civil or industrial project locations. The QA/QC Manager spends significant time in active construction environments, including civil site and utility infrastructure work areas. The position requires extensive travel, estimated at 75% or more, to various job sites and facilities. Work involves regular site walk-throughs, inspections, and interactions with field personnel, project teams, and external stakeholders. Standard office tools such as Microsoft Office Suite are used for reporting and documentation, but much of the work takes place in the field within a dynamic construction setting.

Pay

  • The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
