About the role

The QA/QC Fiber Optic Splicing Tester ensures fiber optic cable splicing results comply with Wire 3’s quality standards across active OSP construction projects. This role captures and documents test results, performs physical plant quality inspections in the field, and communicates quality findings and project risks to the Splicing Manager. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this position supports overall project quality control and network compliance in the Central Florida region, based out of Daytona Beach, FL. All tools and testing equipment are provided by Wire 3, and training on electronic testing equipment will be included.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and document test results from fiber optic splicing operations using Wire 3’s company platform and company-provided testing gear.
  • Perform physical plant quality inspections in the field, recording pass/fail results against the Wire 3 quality checklist via tablet on the company platform; capture photos documenting the condition found at each location.
  • Communicate project risks and quality hazards to the Splicing Manager as they arise.
  • Work directly with the Splicing Manager on areas of completion and inspection results.
  • Assist in implementing project and program plans as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in fiber optic construction, quality control, or a related field preferred; motivated candidates willing to learn will be considered.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing required.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills required; proficiency with tablets and mobile devices for data entry preferred.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to accurately document inspection findings and test results.
  • Clear verbal communication skills with the ability to report field findings to the Splicing Manager.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage assigned inspection areas efficiently.
  • Prior experience in fiber optic construction, testing, or telecommunications preferred; training on Wire 3’s testing equipment will be provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed primarily in the field on active OSP construction sites in the Central Florida region.
  • Requires extensive walking, bending, and traversal of active outdoor job sites in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Minimal overnight travel expected; work is primarily local to the assigned region.
