About the role

The QA Performance Engineer ensures the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS) associated systems meet stringent quality, performance, accessibility, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks covering functional, regression, performance, Section 508 accessibility, and security testing.
  • Use automated unit and system tests, test plans, and test cases to support test-driven development (TDD) and secure code validation.
  • Ensure test coverage across all Agile requirements, integrations, and sprint deliverables.
  • Conduct pre-launch and post-launch performance/load testing to validate system stability, scalability, and responsiveness.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and support teams in optimizing responses, throughput, and resource usage.
  • Support UAT, Independent Software Quality Assurance (ISQA), and IV&V testing activities by providing required documentation, test data, and integration content.
  • Use Testing Dashboards to track UAT readiness and test cycle feature availability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement across Sprints and PIs by analyzing quality trends, defect categories, and performance analytics.
  • Work with Agile Development Teams, System Teams, Integration Developers, and Architecture teams to ensure production readiness and traceability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or an IT-related degree.
  • 7-10 years of experience developing automated test frameworks across functional, regression, performance, accessibility (508), and security categories.
  • Experience conducting pre-launch/post-launch performance testing and analyzing load/performance defects.
  • Experience producing Release Quality Metrics Reports, supporting IV&V/ISQA, and validating enterprise releases.
  • Experience supporting Agile/Scrum teams within CI/CD and DevSecOps environments.

Skills

  • Skilled in synthetic monitoring, dashboard management, and test-result analytics.
  • Ability to design reusable test frameworks and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Preferred use/understanding of Selenium, SOAPUI, Section 508 automation, and CI/CD-integrated testing.

Public Trust clearance preferred.
