QA Engineer
About the role
Engineered Valves is searching for a Quality Engineer with a product line focus on elastomer and PTFE diaphragms to join their team in Lancaster, PA.
Responsibilities
- Implement and drive changes that strengthen ITT’s quality assurance program with focus on the diaphragm product line.
- Contribute information for material review meetings with process improvement deliverables.
- Review or disposition of non-conformances and returned material evaluation process for site.
- Performs detailed inspection and analysis of sample components regarding dimensional conformance to drawings and non-destructive testing.
- Issues production release and approval of sample components for production start-up.
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of product.
- Develops, implements and monitors process control methods, including Run Charts, Pareto Charts, SPC Charts or other tools as defined as necessary for Manufacturing Processes.
- Facilitates the disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
- Analyzes and trends facility scrap and creates corrective action plans to reduce.
- Reviews and assists in the engineering design of new components, as well as redesign of existing components to ensure proper function and suitable producibility and inspection by outside vendors and in-house manufacturing departments.
- Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Provides technical support & training to the inspectors as required which includes receiving inspection and in-process inspection activities, measuring and testing product using computerized coordinate axis machines, alloy analyzing and topography measurement devices, and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Trains and certifies as a member of our internal auditor program.
- Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of suppliers within the supplier assessment and approval process. As well as partnering to resolve quality issues.
- Participates in customer driven and regulatory agency reviews of the Quality Management System.
- Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions as necessary.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of customer and regulatory agency requirements as they pertain to manufacturing environments and quality management systems. (ie… ASME, ISO, CAS, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years in a competitive quality or manufacturing environment or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience working within a regulated industry in a Quality Assurance function a plus.
- Technical knowledge in elastomer, PTFE, and molding manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, GD&T, common scientific and technical journals.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to peers and top management.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Requires strong leadership, influencing and relationship building skills.
- Advanced Excel experience.
