QA Lead Engineer

Location: Sandy, Utah (in-person at the AMEX office)

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and functional requirements to define comprehensive test strategies, scenarios, and test cases.
• Perform end-to-end functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing across banking applications.
• Educate and train the test automation team on what should be automated.
• Validate banking workflows, business rules, interfaces, APIs, and data integrity across FIS-enabled applications.
• Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools.
• Execute manual and automated test cases, document results, and report defects using standard defect management tools (JIRA).
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing initiatives.
• Partner with development teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects in a timely manner.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Perform root cause analysis for production issues and support release validation activities.
• Support compliance with banking regulations, security standards, and quality assurance best practices.
• Prepare test execution reports, defect metrics, and quality dashboards for daily status updates.
• Self-organize based on demanding priorities and provide ad-hoc test data requests when needed.
• Use Amex AI toolkits to further enhance and optimize the end-to-end test management lifecycle.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Proven work experience in software QA with strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools such as Karate and Cypress.
• Experience working with product and engineering stakeholders.
• Experience triggering testing in CI environments.
• Keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
• Willingness to help teammates, share knowledge, and learn from others.
• Openness to receiving constructive feedback and turning it into process improvements.

Nice to Have

• Experience with WireMock, JMeter, Selenium, Jenkins, and Postman.
