About the role

Responsible for the startup inspection, in-process inspection, and end-of-run testing of bottles. Must audit and assist Inspector Packers with the visual inspection of bottles, report any quality problems and non-conformances to the Production and/or Quality Supervisor immediately. Must follow Pretium standards for Safety, Housekeeping, Quality, and Production in an efficient and safe manner. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, and able to work independently. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy production environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and legal regulations. Must be able to work 8- or 12-hour shifts, including overtime and after-hour meetings as needed; may be asked to fill in for Supervisors if required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs first-article inspection after changeovers and line start-ups as stated in SOP/Work Procedure Manual; approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments/actions to operator and supervisor.
  • Collects representative samples from each production line and performs required tests and/or evaluations to ensure product meets specifications.
  • Contains nonconformance raw and finished product as stated in SOP/Work Procedure Manual.
  • Documents all tests and/or quality evaluations and abides by operational procedures as spelled out in the SOP/Work Procedure Manual.
  • Ensures all testing equipment (Magna Mike, scales, etc.) are calibrated daily; calibration to be completed via use of a calibration gauge, weight, or other equipment as needed and recorded on the required check sheet.
  • Creates labels as needed for each shift, line, and machine in production for that day.
  • Trains on the responsibilities of the Inspector Packer role and provides backup/break coverage as needed.
  • Monitors and verifies activities to ensure line products meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
  • Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures to ensure they are always followed and documented correctly.
  • Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to Quality.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Experience in plastics or packaging industry a plus.
  • Working knowledge of computer operating systems.
  • Must wear all required PPE properly and conduct self in a safe manner.
  • Must keep workstation clean and free from dirt and debris; clean assigned areas of the building or equipment as instructed.

Pay

Full-time day shift with 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule: 3 days one week, 4 days the next.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include identifying color and viewing objects up close.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
