QA Engineer II

About the Role

Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection to ensure products are free of flaws and function as designed. Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates. Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions. Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensures effective corrective actions are implemented, and contributes to supplier quality improvement programs.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggests modifications to prevent defects in components or final products.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, and production, to identify and mitigate quality risks.
  • Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure established quality standards are met.
  • Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures.
  • May ensure compliance with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential; may require working inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.
  • Up to 25% travel likely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Quality or Engineering.
  • Technical expertise, research skills, and problem-solving abilities.
