QA Coordinator (Bilingual)
About the role
Arcosa Shoring Products is a leading manufacturer of trench-shoring equipment for the construction industry. Our team builds high-quality trench shields and shoring products designed to support safe, reliable work in the field. Arcosa Shoring Products is looking for a QA Coordinator for our Houston, TX plant. This position is a key resource for manufacturing quality practices and welding-specific requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and evaluate welder performance qualification tests.
- Perform material receiving inspections to verify conformance with requirements.
- Perform in process inspections, measurements, and fit/function tests accurately recording results in accordance with quality requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections on a variety of machined, fabricated, welded and painted assemblies.
- Verify that all required paperwork and documentation is present and properly maintained at workstations.
- Interpret blueprints and drawings to confirm specifications and tolerances for a wide range of components and assemblies.
- Utilize precision measuring tools and equipment to complete dimensional inspections and verify conformance to requirements.
- Initiate and support containment/quarantine activities when discrepancies or nonconformances are identified.
- Work closely with plant management to track and address welding-related issues.
- Conduct new hire orientations.
- Conduct training and coaching on Weld Procedure Specifications and weld quality requirements.
- Verify welding machine calibration.
- Perform additional quality related duties as assigned by management to meet organizational and customer requirements.
- Comply with all safe work practices.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in both, Spanish and English.
- 5 years of experience with GMAW (mig welding) with at least 2 years in a quality role
- Must be able to read blueprints and recognize critical quality characteristics
- Knowledge of basic measuring tools such as tape measures, protractors, calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Knowledge in using various visual weld inspection tools
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working Conditions
Full-time on-site position. Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds which operate 2 shifts and frequent weekend shifts. This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays. Candidates should be comfortable working in industrial environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
