QA Automation Engineer with Network Testing (Python/Linux) experience
About The Role
As a QA Automation Engineer with Network Testing (Python/Linux) experience, you will make an impact by ensuring the quality, stability, performance, and reliability of real-time, low-latency enterprise systems. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with development teams, infrastructure teams, product stakeholders, and global delivery partners to support successful testing, validation, and production readiness initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to plan, execute, and deliver testing activities and release validations.
- Perform end-to-end system qualification from data center distribution through client desktop environments.
- Execute performance, benchmarking, soak, and real-time data testing to validate throughput, latency, stability, and scalability.
- Analyze application, system, and network behavior under load, including CPU, memory, packet loss, latency, and jitter metrics.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and tooling using Python, Bash, and AI-assisted development technologies.
- Validate migration scenarios, backward compatibility requirements, and production deployment readiness.
- Troubleshoot issues across application, operating system, infrastructure, and network layers using diagnostic and monitoring tools.
- Support global testing cycles and maintain lab environments that accurately mirror client production environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, including manual, automation, performance, and system testing.
- Strong experience testing real-time, low-latency, or high-volume distributed systems.
- Hands-on expertise with performance testing, benchmarking, soak testing, throughput validation, and latency analysis.
- Strong Linux administration skills, including system configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting for automation, testing, and data analysis.
- Experience with network protocols and diagnostics, including TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, routing, tcpdump, and Wireshark.
- Proven ability to analyze logs, system metrics, and application behavior to identify and resolve complex issues.
Qualifications
- Experience working with large-scale streaming data environments processing hundreds of thousands of events or more.
- Knowledge of Windows system administration, client validation, and enterprise integration practices.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude to accelerate testing and automation activities.
- Experience leveraging AI or machine learning techniques for anomaly detection, performance analysis, and root-cause investigation.
- Understanding of prompt engineering and AI-driven workflow optimization for quality engineering teams.
- Experience creating Technical Operations Notices (TON) and Notes for the Record (NFR).
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, observability, and testing platforms.
- Experience supporting global release management and rollout testing initiatives.
Skills

Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the client or Cognizant office in Creve Coeur, Missouri. The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you're engaged in, as well as business and client requirements.
