About the role
QA Analysts – 2 openings. Consulting opportunity with up to 5 days in the office in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Quality Engineering & Automation: Design, implement, and maintain automated testing across unit testing (SonarQube), API and integration testing (Karate), load and performance testing (Gatling), end-to-end workflow testing (Playwright); increase automation coverage toward organizational targets (85‑95%); integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines; establish reusable automation standards across platform services.
- Platform Quality Ownership & Testing Support: Ensure quality across Ninth Wave components; identify testing gaps across microservices; ensure consistent quality gates prior to deployment; validate complex data flows between upstream banks and downstream partners; perform functional, regression, performance, and security testing using manual and automated methods; leverage AI-enabled QA tools (automated test generation, defect prediction, intelligent regression testing); validate third-party connectivity for compliance with standards (OFX, FDX, OAuth2, OIDC).
- Incident Prevention & Reliability: Participate in RCA investigations; convert production incidents into automated regression tests; prevent recurrence of issues such as duplicate submission conflicts (HTTP 409), bank feed synchronization failures (HTTP 103), batch processing blocks, token lifecycle or authentication failures; partner with Engineering and Support to improve operational stability.
- CI/CD Quality Governance: Define and enforce quality gates aligned with daily deployment goals; monitor automated test execution within pipelines; establish measurable release-readiness criteria; promote shift-left testing practices.
- Reporting: Produce coverage dashboards and testing metrics for leadership; track automation coverage, defect escape rates, regression effectiveness, performance baselines; improve transparency of quality status.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, platform onboarding, product management, client support & operations; advocate for testability during system design; work with developers on automated testing best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in Software QA, Quality Engineering, or SDET roles.
- Strong experience testing distributed or microservice architectures.
- Hands‑on automation experience with API testing frameworks (Karate, REST Assured, Postman automation), UI automation tools (Playwright, Selenium), performance testing tools (Gatling, JMeter).
- Experience working in CI/CD environments (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
- Understanding of REST APIs, authentication flows, and data integrations.
- Hands‑on experience with SQL and database queries.
- Experience analyzing production incidents and driving corrective actions.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Skills
- Preferred: Experience in fintech, banking integrations, or data aggregation platforms.
- Familiarity with FDX or OFX standards, OAuth/token‑based authentication, financial reconciliation workflows.
- Exposure to AI‑enabled QA tools (willingness to learn required).
- Experience with third‑party applications: Intuit QBD/QBO, NetSuite, Sage, Plaid, Xero.
