Python with Quartz

About the role

This is a 12+ month contract role for a mid-level, AVP/VP-level Python Developer to join the Risk & PnL Team and work on migrating Intraday/EOD Ondemand use cases from legacy systems into modern systems using Quartz Risk Engine as part of the Comprehensive Intraday Risk for Trading program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members, platform teams, EQ Derivs trading, and operations to achieve collective results
• Formulate and design system scope, objectives, and bridge gaps between systems
• Reconcile risk & PnL numbers and explain differences between systems
• Support systems through maintenance, modification, problem resolution, risk assessment, code migrations, architecture reviews, and performance optimizations
• Design and develop new features within existing Python services
• Contribute to future design and architecture
• Plan work in an agile manner with other team members
• Write acceptance tests in coordination with QA
• Provide L3 user support
• Communicate with business and platform partners
• Improve and develop CI pipeline and deployment strategies

Requirements

• 5+ years of technology development experience, with ideally 2+ years in front-office derivative risk (Greeks and Scenario risk)
• Ability to define relevant areas of the roadmap and articulate the vision to senior stakeholders, product owners, and teams
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the capability to juggle multiple competing priorities
• Proficiency in software design, ideally focused on real-time/batch risk systems, executed using agile methodologies (Scrum, Test Driven Development, unit/integration testing, pair programming, etc.)
• Comfort driving design and architecture and rationalizing business requirements
• Significant interaction with senior developers across other work streams as systems integrate an increasingly complex product set
• Computer science or equivalent degree
• Demonstrable experience designing and developing complex multi-threaded server-side functionality using Core Java
• Experience with open-source Java frameworks like Spring and Hibernate
• Proficient in writing unit, integration, and acceptance tests
• Comfortable in an agile working environment
• Self-starter and proactive

Skills

• Python and/or modern web UI technologies: HTML5, React, RESTful services, WebSockets
• Derivatives Risk domain knowledge (Greeks and Scenarios)
• Equity Derivatives product knowledge (Futures, Options, Convertibles)
• Previous experience working with SN and SP is a plus

Pay

Pay range: $60–$70 per hour (based on education, experience, location, duties, certifications, etc.)
