PV Solar Field Technician II (Bad Axe, MI - Century Oaks)
This position sits within the Power Generation Division, responsible for all of NextEra Energy's non-nuclear generation operations, exceeding 40,000 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity. Based out of the Century Oaks Energy Center in Bad Axe, MI, the intended employee will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage, and AC/DC inverters across multiple solar power plants to achieve safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations.
About the role
The Site Technician will support the Regional Manager or designee to ensure the execution of Power Generation Division processes. Responsibilities include safety, contractor management, electrical/electronic/mechanical equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, as well as overall site operations, asset management, regulatory compliance, reliability engineering, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Perform reliability engineering and warranty management
- Conduct operation and basic maintenance of solar power systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and power electronics
- Uphold safety and environmental program stewardship
- Supervise NextEra Energy employees and contractors
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
- Manage business duties and inventory
- Operate heavy equipment
- Ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in safe and efficient condition
- Inspect solar arrays and inverters daily for fluid system breaches, mechanical misalignment, or electrical failures
- Support teammates in nearby states to maintain reliability, operations, and maintenance for assigned sites
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Valid Driver’s License (non-CDL)
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade School Graduate
- Licensed Electrician or Master Electrician
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification
