PV Solar Field Technician II (Amite)
About the Role
This position sits within the Power Generation Division, responsible for all of NextEra Energy's non-nuclear generation operations, exceeding 40,000 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity. The role is based in the Roseland, LA area and focuses on the operation and maintenance of solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage, and AC/DC inverters across multiple solar power plants to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations.
The Site Technician will maintain tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition, perform daily inspections for fluid system breaches, mechanical component issues, and electrical failures, and troubleshoot solar arrays and inverters. The role includes supporting teammates in nearby states and ensuring reliability, operations, and maintenance for assigned sites.
Responsibilities
- Reliability engineering and warranty management
- Operation and basic maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment
- Electrical and power electronics troubleshooting and repairs
- Safety and environmental program stewardship
- Supervisory duties for NextEra Energy employees and contractors
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
- Business duties and inventory management
- Heavy equipment operation
- Regulatory compliance
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Valid Driver’s License (Non-CDL)
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade School Graduate
- Licensed Electrician or Licensed Master Electrician
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification
