Position Summary
The Purchasing Supervisor reports to the Senior Manager, Purchasing
Located in San Diego, CA
Full-Time Hybrid
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and lead a team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Ensure the team meets procurement goals and objectives.
- Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, from requisition to delivery, ensuring efficiency and compliance with organizational policies.
- Implement improvements to streamline procurement workflows and reduce lead times.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating vendor performance.
- Lead vendor selection processes, ensuring alignment with quality and cost requirements.
- Collaborate with finance teams to monitor and control procurement budgets.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to optimize purchasing expenditures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Analyze market trends, conduct supplier assessments, and recommend sourcing strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and logistics, to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
- Provide procurement insights and support to other departments as needed.
Competencies
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiations.
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 – 6 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles, or equivalent military or practical experience.
- Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
- Strong knowledge of procurement software and systems.
- Team management and leadership experience.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.
Pay & Benefits
Compensation includes the posted base salary range and does not reflect potential commission, incentive, bonus, or other additional compensation opportunities, where applicable. Total compensation is determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, geographic location, and other job-related compensatory factors. In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc.
