Purchasing Manager - Production and New Product Introduction
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify material requirements for new product introductions.
- Manage procurement activities through all NPI stage-gate reviews from concept through production release.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Cook up prototype materials, long-lead components, tooling, and production launch inventory.
- Coordinate with inventory management to monitor levels and forecast needs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all purchasing activities.
- Support supplier PPAP, APQP, and launch readiness activities where applicable.
- Analyze purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management within the manufacturing industry.
- A minimum of 3 years leading buyers or purchasing teams.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP purchasing processes with hands-on NetSuite experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of MRP, BOM and Demand Planning.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in procurement.
