Purchasing Manager - New Home Construction

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid in the implementation of new subcontractors
• Map options and oversee new community build outs as directed by the Purchasing Director
• Review jobs to ensure budget accuracy
• Negotiate subcontractor pricing to reduce costs
• Identify qualified trade partners offering cost-effective construction and quality
• Prepare and submit reporting, tracking, and rebate information for the Net Plus Contract Program
• Update approved bid lists
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience, Skills, Knowledge

• At least two (2) years of experience in estimating or purchasing for a production residential builder
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
• Experience with New Star Enterprise or equivalent software and electronic take-off (preferred), but not required
• Proficiency with MS Office and proficiency in spreadsheets
• Self-motivated with attention to detail, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team member
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• Comfortable presenting ideas and solutions to leadership and key business partners
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
• Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Valid Driver's License

• Close vision required for tasks involving computers and office equipment
• Sit and use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate office equipment
• Occasionally stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Exposure to construction sites with varying temperatures and noise levels
• Travel between divisions and to construction sites is likely
