Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day purchasing and planning activities to maintain consistent material availability and support production needs.
- Collaborate with sourcing partners to improve supplier network performance and contribute to overall supply chain effectiveness.
- Identify supplier delivery, quality, or service concerns early and elevate issues promptly to drive resolution.
- Contribute to strategic procurement initiatives and support cross-functional sourcing projects as business needs require.
- Track procurement and supply chain metrics, analyze trends, and take action to improve operational results.
- Lead and guide purchasing team members or cross-functional stakeholders to ensure priorities are aligned and execution remains on schedule.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts across purchasing and supply chain processes to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Use enterprise systems and reporting tools to manage procurement activity, inventory visibility, and planning accuracy.
- Perform additional responsibilities that support departmental and organizational objectives.
- Assist with scheduling and master planning coordination to align purchasing activity with inventory and production requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of recent purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with growing levels of responsibility.
- Minimum of two to three years of leadership experience managing professionals, or equivalent success leading cross-functional procurement teams and projects.
- Background in commodity purchasing, with preference for experience sourcing coiled steel.
- Demonstrated ability to build sourcing strategies across multiple functions and business groups.
- Proven success improving supplier performance and advancing continuous improvement within supply chain operations.
- Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems, including experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or similar platforms, as well as strong Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of inventory management, classification methods, international supply chain practices, and scheduling processes.
