About the role
You will lead the PacStar Purchasing team and partner with the Commodity Manager to ensure strategic supply chain support of the PacStar business plan. You will also participate in demand and forecast processes, manage supply base effectiveness, develop and implement long-term supplier relationships, and monitor supplier issues.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and communicate among various customer groups to achieve purchasing priorities
- Lead the demand and forecast process to determine material requirements
- Collaborate with the Commodity Manager to monitor industry trends and ensure a reliable supply of required components
- Manage supply base for effectiveness and redundancy
- Develop and implement long-term supplier relationships and contracts
- Develop and manage objectives and metrics to ensure continuous improvement
- Work closely with operations and business units for supply chain plans and status updates
- Focus on New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure suppliers are in place for engineering and operations requirements
- Anticipate and resolve supply issues to avoid disruptions
- Communicate with the team to ensure effective performance of supplier management
- Handle multiple priorities and deliver on key deadlines
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Detect, analyze, and help resolve problems
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in purchasing and scheduling for both commercial off-the-shelf and custom fabricated parts including sheet metal, plastics, cables, and machined parts
- 4+ years of team leadership experience
- Strong ability to quickly learn company’s purchasing and inventory processes and procedures
- Experience with Sage software and working with ERP and/or MRP systems; experience with SAP is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a cross-functional team
- Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Qualifications
- APICS/CPM certification desired
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles desired
- Knowledge of accounting procedures involving procurement and planning preferred

Pay
$108,900 - 145,000 per year plus bonus
