About the role

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for handling and overseeing the procurement of goods and services through appropriate bidding processes to achieve optimum price value while maintaining superior quality consistent with Highgate Hotel’s established control policies and procedures.

The Knickerbocker, a legendary New York landmark reborn as the first luxury hotel in Times Square, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their team. The hotel features 330 luxe guestrooms and suites boasting incredible views and bespoke furnishings, and the Purchasing Manager will play a key role in maintaining the hotel's high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect all deliveries for accuracy and quality, verifying quantities, product specifications, and pricing before accepting shipments.
  • Report damaged, spoiled, or incorrect items immediately and ensure perishable items meet proper temperature and food safety standards.
  • Maintain organized receiving logs and documentation for audit purposes, ensuring proper approvals are obtained for all deliveries.
  • Label, date, and store products in designated storage areas, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO) and food safety compliance.
  • Distribute goods to appropriate departments promptly and maintain clean, organized, and secure storage areas.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual inventories, monitoring par levels and reporting discrepancies to Purchasing Manager or Controller.
  • Support cost control initiatives by maintaining accurate records and following hotel safety protocols and company standards at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of receiving, warehouse, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of food handling and storage standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (inventory or accounting systems experience preferred).
  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
