About the role

The Purchasing and Inventory Manager oversees all inventory control and procurement activities to maintain optimal stock levels, drive cost efficiency, and support uninterrupted operations. This role manages the full purchasing lifecycle, builds strong supplier partnerships, negotiates favorable contracts, and ensures purchasing strategies align with overall business needs in a manufacturing or production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inventory control and inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages or excess.
  • Lead purchasing and procurement activities, including sourcing materials, issuing purchase orders, and managing order fulfillment.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply, quality, and service levels.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions for the organization.
  • Monitor inventory performance, including turnover, accuracy, and aging, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Use ERP and inventory management systems to track inventory, manage purchasing workflows, and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with production, logistics, and other internal teams to align purchasing plans with manufacturing and operational needs.
  • Forecast inventory requirements based on demand, production schedules, and historical trends to support accurate planning.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Present information and recommendations clearly in one-on-one and small group settings to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and direction within the purchasing and inventory function, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure purchasing and inventory activities comply with internal policies and support overall supply chain management objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory control and inventory management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing and procurement experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, and inventory planning.
  • Proficiency with ERP software and inventory management systems.
  • Prominent ability to forecast demand and plan inventory effectively.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience working across supply chain, forecasting, planning, logistics, purchasing, and procurement functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective supplier partnerships.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP and inventory management processes.
  • Interest in contributing to a growing organization with opportunities for advancement.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Schedule

This role is based 100% onsite, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position operates within a manufacturing or production environment and relies heavily on ERP and inventory management systems, as well as other supply chain and planning tools. The work setting supports close collaboration with production, logistics, and other operational teams, offering a stable schedule and the opportunity to grow with a company that is expanding and provides room for advancement.
