Position Summary
The Purchasing Leader is responsible for ensuring the availability of materials required to support production and customer fulfillment objectives. This role leads purchasing activities, supplier relationship management, contract administration, replenishment system integrity, and coordination with the vendors to ensure uninterrupted operations.
This role drives supplier performance, cost optimization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining inventory levels that support customer and business requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead purchasing activities to ensure timely material availability, including supplier relationship management, purchase order execution, contract compliance, and resolution of systemic supply issues.
- Drive supplier performance through regular business reviews, on-time delivery (OTD) monitoring, and corrective action management while supporting site customer OTD targets and preventing production disruptions.
- Manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with pricing, service level expectations, and business requirements.
- Partner with suppliers to improve performance, capacity planning, and long-term strategic alignment.
- Drive Root Cause Counter Measures (RCCM) with the team for issues that prohibit meeting key performance indicators – Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity (SQDIP).
- Maintain ownership of key supplier relationships and identify opportunities for cost savings, lead-time reductions, and supply assurance.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree + 8 years’ experience in manufacturing purchasing role with some direct supervision 2+ years of experience using an SAP 2+ years of experience managing/leading projects 2+ years’ experience in root cause analysis and implementing sustainable processes utilizing lean tools
- Preferred Requirements: Problem solving capabilities and experience with lean / continuous improvement Demonstrated ability to influence others including peers and direct reports Ability to see the big picture Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate work accordingly in a fast-paced environment Able to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed organization Strong communication skills
Target Market
Salary Range: $97,200 - $118,800
