At D&B, our store consists of what we call Hardside goods and Clothing goods. Hardside mainly consisting of Ag, Electrical, Plumbing, Housewares, Lawn/Garden, Power Equipment, Tools, Fencing, etc.

About the Role

This position primarily reports to the Large Animal and Feed Buyer. The ideal candidate will assist buying team members by entering and processing data for the selection and procurement of merchandise, which supports overall company sales volume, gross margin, and turnover objectives.

Responsibilities

• Learn and fully utilize available technology to maximize job efficiency including vendor B2B information sites to access UPC codes, place orders, etc.
• Maintain system data related to new vendors, SKUs, min/max, special orders, and pricing.
• Work directly with buyers in providing clerical support regarding system and product information.
• Ensure timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication and follow-up with the vendor, distribution center, and store locations.
• Research and maintain information regarding price and specifications from vendors, catalogs, and the Internet for new and existing products.
• Maintain show specials in the computer system adjusting discounts, pricing, and terms.
• Maintain replenishment system for standard merchandise on a weekly basis.
• Communicate daily (via phone, email, and Teams chat) with stores and other internal personnel in resolving issues regarding new product lines, special order capabilities, pricing, advertising, and delivery of merchandise.
• Other duties pertaining to the procurement of products, goods, or services as assigned by area manager/director.

Requirements

• Knowledge of large animal and feed preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong analytical, organizational, and computer skills.
• Very proficient with Excel, including using established formulas as well as creating new formulas.
• Working knowledge of 10-key, word processing, and ability to manage heavy data entry duties.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in an office, accounting, purchasing, or data entry environment preferred, not required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or other analytical spreadsheet tools, inventory management, pricing and review, and freight.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field; or equivalent experience preferred, not required.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to spend many hours a day working at a computer.
• Able to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift up to 45 lbs (most items will be in the 1-5 lb range).
