As the Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will oversee daily purchasing processes and strategic procurement, ensuring alignment with Harmar’s mission and organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Devise and execute a global supply chain strategy aligned with Harmar’s goals.
- Manage the global supply chain network, supplier relationships, performance, and risk.
- Improve customer experience and drive profit margins.
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations as required.
- Deliver a continuous supply of high-quality, high-value products.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to achieve optimal terms.
- Lead the Purchasing team in using MRP systems to order parts at the lowest cost and required quality, avoiding stock-outs.
- Develop and implement the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to align production schedules with demand forecasts.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies, including export controls, and manage inbound/outbound logistics for cost-effective delivery.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (senior leadership, sales, engineering, marketing, IT, and customer service) to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
- Monitor and support service metrics to ensure high customer satisfaction and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Track and report key sourcing metrics, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and compliance with procurement policies.
- Lead and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with Human Resources on succession planning to ensure leadership continuity.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions, supplier performance issues, and market changes.
- Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of purchasing and logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Hands-on experience with international suppliers.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, MRP/ERP systems, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Syspro knowledge preferred.
- Previous experience with MRP/ERP implementation, including a comprehensive understanding of bills of material.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- APICS certification is a plus.
