About the role
The Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator will manage the company's purchasing and inventory activities, ensuring inventory levels are maintained and orders are placed in a timely and cost-effective manner. The coordinator will collaborate closely with various departments to align inventory levels with production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage the parts purchasing process for heavy equipment, trucks, yard supplies, and tools by identifying cost-effective suppliers, negotiating prices, and placing orders for raw materials, finished goods, and supplies.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal service.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels by reviewing daily and weekly inventory reports and coordinating with relevant departments to ensure stock levels are optimal.
- Review and analyze inventory levels to identify slow-moving items and potential stock shortages, taking appropriate action to meet production demand.
- Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient and order additional parts and supplies as needed.
- Communicate lead times and/or ETA for all ordered parts, including checking back-ordered parts weekly and updating ETAs as necessary.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders.
- Coordinate with the accounting department for payment of orders.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Check shipments upon arrival to ensure orders are filled correctly and goods meet specifications.
- Process receipt of goods in the inventory management software.
- Process work orders in the maintenance system.
- Enter daily inspections into the system.
- Create and maintain an organized and labeled inventory system.
Requirements
- Experience in inventory management and purchasing for heavy equipment & trucks preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Computer proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and supply chain management.
- Proven experience in developing inventory and organization systems.
